ESPN is hiring Doc Rivers and promoting Doris Burke to their NBA “A” team, according to reports.
The New York Post is reporting that Rivers and Burke will join Mike Breen after Jeff Van Gundy was fired following layoffs at ESPN in June.
This leaves Mark Johnson, who called last year’s NBA finals with Van Gundy and Breen, demoted to the “B” team with Mark Jones or out of ESPN altogether.
The Post says the deals are not finalised, but are quickly moving in that direction with ESPN declining to comment.
Rivers was fired by the 76ers this offseason. He was a candidate for the Suns’ head coaching job, but did not get it.
UPDATE: Front Office Sports is reporting Mark has been let go by ESPN.
ESPN has let go NBA analyst Mark Jackson, a source confirmed to @byajperez.
