Where are you from?
How did you get started in broadcasting?
I worked at BBC Radio Leicester when I was still at school – helping out at the weekends with guests and making coffee etc
When was that?
Why News broadcasting?
I’d wanted to work as a journalist since I was a child….I’d been a mad diary keeper and as I got older realised I was writing more and more about what was happening in the news as well as in my own life – so it seemed like a natural extension.
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
BBC Midlands Today where I started out as a news trainee – and Newsround which I presented in my early twenties. I also worked as a reporter and presenter for BBC Breakfast News.
What is your Best on-air moment?
Interviewing Hillary Clinton
What is your Worst on-air moment?
Interviewing Kermit the Frog
What would you like to do before your career ends?
Perfect the art of interviewing!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Play with my two young children and stand on my head in my yoga class.
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Don’t assume it’ll be easy – and be prepared to pick up the phone to organise as much work experience as possible. And be persistent!
A big thanks to Julie for taking part.
