Where are you from?
How did you get started in broadcasting?
I started as a video-journalist for Channel One Liverpool. I was one of the first recruits when the station launched.
When was that?
Way back in 1994.
Why News broadcasting?
I can’t imagine a better job than journalism. Print, radio or TV. Everyday’s different. You meet the most interesting people. I’ve always been a gossip and very, very nosy. I also get paid for it.
Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
Channel One, BBC Radio Merseyside.
What is your Best on-air moment?
The presenter giving me an on air mention for winning the RTS reporter of the Year Award – I hadn’t been able to go the ceremony to pick it up so that was my moment of glory. Also, about to start a three minute live interview – without my three guests. They’re stuck in traffic and my mind’s a blank. How will I fill three minutes? The director counts me in. I start talking – still not knowing how on earth I will fill. I begin to explain my guests aren’t here and suddenly they appear. I can’t tell you how relieved I was.
What is your Worst on-air moment?
What would you like to do before your career ends?
Real investigative journalism.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Bit of a twitcher.
What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
To get into broadcast journalism – be inquisitive. Keep asking questions.
A big thanks to Jayne for taking part.
