Piers Morgan is leaving Good Morning Britain.

In a statement, ITV said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Television watchdog Ofcom launched an investigation today after it received more than 41,000 complaints about comments made by Piers about Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers walked off the set of Good Morning Britain this morning as co-presenter Alex Beresford branded his behaviour “diabolical”.

Morgan guest-hosted five episodes of Good Morning Britain on ITV in April 2015 and became a permanent co-host in November 2015, appearing alongside Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins.
