Allan-King

Allan King is a former news presenter at Sky News.

He joined Sky in April 1993 and broke many major stories, including the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport and was on-air when the Queen Mother’s death was announced.

In the 70’s and 80’s he was a familiar voice on national commercial radio as a main news reader with IRN (Independent Radio News), and in London presented a range of programmes on LBC Radio.

He moved into television news in 1990 when he joined BSB as a presenter. In 1991 Allan became Head of News at London’s Melody FM, and joined Sky News two years later.

Among his many on-air discussions with political and business leaders, Allan obtained the first television interview with Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams the day after the London Docklands bombing broke the IRA ceasefire.

Allan left Sky News in 2007 and in 2008 was engaged by the Government of Gibraltar to conduct a complete review of the Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation. Subsequently he was offered and accepted a three-year engagement as Chief Executive Officer.

He returned to the UK in 2013. Allan was recently seen previewing the newspapers on TalkTV.
