ABC News Expands Foreign Bureaus

ABC News is assigning seven reporters to new overseas posts in what is the networks largest expansion of foreign bureaus in two decades.

ABC News President David Westin said “Technology has dramatically changed how we gather the news around the world.”

With reporters now able to shoot and produce stories, carry more portable gear and transmit material from anywhere, he said, “we can report more stories from more locations.”

The reporters will have the task of contributing to ABC’s TV newscasts as well as ABC News Radio, ABCNEWS.com, ABC News Now and ABC News’ webcasts.

Support will come from its larger bureaus in London, Moscow, Jerusalem, Beijing and Baghdad, the network said.

The reporters and their assignments are Joohee Cho in Seoul; Margaret Conley in Jakarta; Sonia Gallego in Rio de Janeiro; Dana Hughes in Nairobi; Karen Russo in Mumbai; Nick Schifrin in New Delhi and Lara Setrakian in Dubai.
