Former Channel 4 racing pundit John McCririck has been taken to hospital after collapsing at the Cheltenham Festival this afternoon, his wife has said.

The 72-year-old has been taken to Cheltenham General Hospital where he will remain overnight. His condition is not thought to be serious.

This year’s Festival is the first time in almost 30 years he has not presented Channel 4’s coverage.

In October 2012, the network announced that John will not be included in the new team presenting racing from January 2013, which McCririck blamed on ageism.
