Jerry “The King” Lawler was rushed to hospital last night after collapsing during WWE Raw – which was live from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The 62-year-old was sitting at ringside with Michael Cole commentating on the Kane & Daniel Bryan v Titus O’Neil & Darren Young match when he suddenly collapsed.
WWE producers and emergency response crew rushed to his side and performed CPR on him. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Lawler had wrestled roughly 30 minutes before he collapsed in a tag match with Randy Orton, CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler.
His broadcast partner Michael Cole addressed the television audience later in the show and said that the situation is “serious,” but that Lawler was breathing on his own.
“Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night’s broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal,” said World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
“We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family.”
