Simon McCoy to leave BBC News today; joining GB News

BBC News presenter Simon McCoy will leave BBC News today after 18 Years.

“After 18 years.. Last day today,” – Simon confirmed on Twitter on Thursday Morning.

Simon joined the BBC from Sky News in January 2004, and could be seen on BBC Breakfast and BBC News 24, initially as a cover presenter for both.

In September 2005, he took over the morning slot on the BBC News Channel alongside Kate Silverton.

In 2013, McCoy went viral when he inadvertently picked up a refill pack of A4 printer paper instead of his iPad while presenting to camera.

More recently, Simon has presented the weekday 2–5 pm slot, now titled Afternoon Live.

Simon made his debut on the BBC News at Ten in August 2019 and in March 2020, took up the role of main presenter of the BBC News at One.

Simon will join Andrew Neil’s GB News when the new news channel launches later this year.
