Ranvir Singh is joining BBC North West Tonight has a presenter, The BBC announced today.

Singh will present alongside Gordon Burns from Monday 10 September 2007 as part of a major re-launch of the programme.

Ranvir Singh, who is already a familiar face on breakfast and late night bulletins, will join Gordon in a new look studio for the nightly news programme on BBC One North West.

Ranvir says: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Gordon and am looking forward to presenting alongside him. I am usually out and about reporting right across the region so it will feel a little strange at first to be sitting in the studio and talking to Gordon directly rather than on location.

“This really is my dream job and the North West is such a fantastic place to work, it’s very diverse and I know that I will have some interesting and amazing stories to present to our viewers every evening.”

Ranvir joins the programme as it is given a complete facelift with a new title sequence, graphics and studio set.

Gordon Burns has presented his last BBC North West news bulletin tonight, after 15 years in the role. Gordon joined the regional news programme in 1997 and has presented the main evening bulletin and the lunchtime bulletin, North West Today. In 2007, he was joined by Ranvir Singh as co-presenter.
