Steve Scott ITV News Reporter

Steve Scott is employed by ITN and can be seen on ITV News as Sports Editor and on occasional ITV News bulletins.

During his time at ITV News, Steve has covered many stories including; when the Tsunami disaster unfolded, when London was awarded the 2012 Olympics and then 24 hours later during the terror attacks on the capital – Steve was at the forefront of ITV’s extended live programming.

He also co-presented a weekday programme on the ITV News Channel during which he confronted ‘newsmakers’ on the issues of the day. From cabinet ministers to household names from the worlds of sport and showbusiness.

As ITN’s Africa correspondent based in Johannesburg, Steve reported from many troublespots including Rwanda, Congo (then Zaire) and Zimbabwe. Before that posting, Steve was ITN’s North of England correspondent based in Leeds and West of England correspondent in Bristol.

During that time foreign assignments took him all around the world to, among other places, Bosnia during the war there and to the United States where he covered as Washington correspondent on several occasions. He interviewed many of the big names of the late 20th century, including Nelson Mandela and Princess Diana.

He also covered some of the biggest domestic stories of the 90’s for ITN – the Fred and Rose West murders for example, and Steve was part of the award winning reporting teams that covered the Dunblane school massacre and Diana’s death.

Steve began his television career at HTV West in Bristol joining as Industrial correspondent from local radio station GWR where he was News Editor and a presenter. He previously anchored The West Tonight, the main local news programme for ITV West, Monday-Thursday at 6pm.

Between January 2004 and December 2005 Steve regularly presented on the ITV News Channel with Felicity Barr 1600-1730 weekdays as well as providing an evening service alternating between the two presenters. During this period he also presented the sports segment on the ITV News at 10.30 when Felicity was off

Steve broke the death of the Pope John Paul II live on the ITV News Channel and ITV1 and also co anchored the extensive coverage of the July 7th bombings along with Andrea Catherwood for several hours.

While Andrea Catherwood was on maternity leave Steve regularly presented the ITV Weekend News bulletins and during this period he could have occasionally be heard on BBC National Radio.
