Bill Neely is a former International Editor for ITV News the news service produced by ITN for ITV.

Bill was appointed to the role in 2002 and reports from all over the globe, adding diplomatic analysis and context to key international stories.

Prior to becoming International Editor, Bill was Europe Correspondent for ITV News – a post he took up in January 1997. In this role, Bill covered major events such as the death of Princess Diana, the crash of Concorde, the Turkish earthquake and the World Cup in France. In his time in Europe he won two Royal Television Society awards.

Before being appointed Europe Correspondent, Bill spent six years (1991-97) as Washington Correspondent and Bureau Chief for ITV News. During his time in America he covered two Presidential elections, the OJ Simpson trial and verdict, the Oklahoma bombing, the Waco siege, the Arab/Israeli peace signing in Washington, the Los Angeles and San Francisco earthquakes and the American invasion of Haiti, among many other events. He also reported from across South America and the Caribbean.

Bill Neely, 46, began his career at BBC Radio in Northern Ireland. He started in June 1981 at the height of the Republican hunger strike, staying for two years before moving over to BBC TV, still in Northern Ireland.

In 1987 Bill joined the team of the BBC morning television programme “Breakfast Time”,reporting on the Iran-Iraq War. In 1989 he left to become a presenter/reporter at the newly formed Sky News. After six months he left to join ITN.
