Barbara Serra is a news presenter.
She joined Al-Jazeera in 2006 from Five News where she worked after a stint as a reporter with Sky News and presents the Five News evening bulletins and updates on Thursdays and Fridays as well as weekend bulletins.
Before joining Sky News, Barbara worked at the BBC, where she started as a researcher on Radio 4’s Today programme. She then moved to BBC London News, as a TV and radio reporter, and later to BBC Radio Five Live as one of their EuroNews presenters.
Barbara joined Sky News in 2003 as a reporter and covered many news events for the channel, including the death of Pope John Paul II in April 2005.
Barbara was born in Milan but grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her best on-air moments include reporting live from the French Presidential elections when Jean Marie Le Pen made it to the final round but her worst on-air moment was having to improvise a 5 minute radio bulletin without any scripts.
