Alastair Yates

Alastair Yates was a former presenter on BBC and Sky News.

Alastair had been part of the BBC News 24 schedule since the channel launched and he has presented on its sister channel BBC World since 1992.

As a senior presenter, Alastair was posted to Berlin in 1998 to report on the election of Chancellor Schroeder.

Before joining the BBC, Alastair presented on Sky News, where he presented the breakfast programme. Alastair’s television career has also taken him around the UK – Alastair has worked for BBC Midlands, Grampian in Scotland and Anglia in the east of England.

He began his broadcasting career at BBC Radio Derby where he hosted the breakfast show.

In 2011, he retired from news broadcasting and volunteered his services to the ADHD Foundation in Richmond.

Alastair died in July 2018.
