Katie Barnfield is a news reporter at BBC News.

Katie spent 8 years at ITN as a freelance production journalist and assistant news editor from 2013-2021.

As a reporter at ITV London, Katie regularly lead the programme covering major home news stories like the shooting of Sgt Matt Ratana in Croydon, Sally Challen’s conviction appeal and the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

She also delivered multiple original investigations on social affairs stories, including in depth reports into private rental housing and mental health care in London, and was nominated for Journalist of the Year at the 2019 Mind Media Awards.

Before joining the BBC, Katie spent a brief time reporting at Sky News.
