AEW announcer Mark Henry has announced he will leave the company when his contract expires on 28th May 2024.
He joined AEW in 2021 as an analyst for AEW Rampage when the show first debuted on TNT. The former WWE superstar and Olympian also worked as a producer, scout, and mentor for AEW.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio this morning, Henry said his departure was a “mutual thing”.
“I appreciate everything that happened at AEW with Tony Khan and the Khan family. I’ve had a great experience. I do feel like it’s time for me to take more time to handle TheMarkHenry.com and the ReMarkable brand and focus that attention on what my next steps are. I am not going to be renewing my deal.”
Henry, who is now 52 years old, joined the wrestling world in March 1996 when he press slammed Jerry Lawler on an edition of Monday Night Raw.
He would then join the Nation of Domination and became Sexual Chocolate during the Attitude Era.
Henry won the WWE ECW Champion in 2028, and the World championship in 2011. He retired from wrestling in 2017 and worked backstage at WWE until 2021.
