NiB: BBC Social Media Editor, Ruth Liptrot

BBC News has appointed Alex Gubbay as its first Social Media Editor.

Alex, currently Interactive Sports News Editor for BBC Sport, will take on the new role in January. He will coordinate the work of correspondents and reporters using social media tools.
