AP McCoy’s racing farewell – Live from Sandown on Channel 4 Racing

AP McCoy

AP McCoy will end a record-breaking career at Sandown this afternoon – live on Channel 4.

The 40-year-old has two rides at his final fixture – on Mr Mole at 3.15pm before he bows out aboard Box Office at 4.25pm.

The race has been moved forward from its original scheduled time of 5.35pm to allow Channel Four to show it live.

The current champion jump jockey’s trophy is to be retired and given permanently to McCoy, who has more than 16,000 rides, 4,300 wins and 1,000 falls.

The trophy was commissioned in 2007 by the then British Horseracing Board and as McCoy has held the title since 1996, he is the only man to have ever lifted it.

Channel Four will air seven races in total this afternoon, five from Sandown 2.00, 2.35, 3.15, 3.50, and 4.25, one from Ripon at 1.45pm and one from Haydock Park at 2.20pm.

Coverage starts at 1.25pm on Channel 4 and Channel 4 HD, where Nick Luck is joined by Simon Holt, Jim McGrath, Mick Fitzgerald, Tanya Stevenson and Alice Plunkett.
