Sam Coates is Deputy Political Editor at Sky News

He joined Sky in May 2019, following the promotion of Beth Rigby to political editor.

Sam’s media career started as a reporter for the Times newspaper in September 2000.

Following a five month stint at the Washington Post in June 2005, Sam returned to the Times as chief political correspondent.

He was promoted to Deputy Political Editor in 2010 for the paper and served as banking editor from September 2011 to September 2012.

From 2012, he was deputy political editor at the Times.

He studied at the University of Cambridge; Masters of Arts, English.
