Alan Hansen signed off from BBC Match of the Day this evening.
Hansen, who is now 58, has been a leading analyst on the show since 1992 after a stellar playing career with Liverpool.
He made over 400 appearances between 1977 and 1991 of the club, during a glittering era that saw the club win eight league titles and three European Cups, among other honours.
After retiring as a player he went on to become one of the more respected TV analysts in the game, and was known for his passionate, forthright and intelligent views that led to him being referred to as the `King of the Pundits’ by his colleague Gary Lineker.
Alan signed off from the programme saying: “I’ll still watch football, but I’d just like to thank everyone who worked on the programme and watched the programme.”
