Hart, who won 75 international caps, was part of the BBC Sport team to cover the Three Lions run to the final of Euro 2024 this summer.
He made 340 appearances in the English top flight and helped Manchester City win two Premier League titles—an FA Cup and the League Cup—twice.
Theo Walcott will also join the new-look studio panel, according to the Daily Star.
Walcott started his career at Southampton, scoring four goals for the side before joining Arsenal, where he netted 65 goals in a 12-year stay at the North London side.
He represented England at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2012 and won 47 caps, scoring eight goals.
Hart said: “I’m very excited, very proud, and looking forward to growing into an incredible role in something that I grew up watching.
“I want to try to give back as much as I can from the career I’ve had and keep learning.
“I’m thrilled to be in an incredible setting, learning first and foremost in a new part of my life.”
