Andrew Castle to commentate on his last Wimbledon Tournament next month

Andrew Castle will commentate on his last Wimbledon tournament next month – ending a 23-year stint in the booth.
In an Interview with the Times, Castle said: “It’s been a hell of a journey.
“I can’t say I have enjoyed every minute because there have been moments of pressure and controversy, but it has been a huge privilege.
“Luck is a big factor in life, and I’ve had my fair share. But you’ve got to make your own luck in the world.
“And that means putting yourself out there, getting rejected and picking yourself up.”
He added: “I am not sure what will come next professionally, but whatever it is, I’ll embrace it.”
Castle was a tennis player himself and was Great Britain’s number 1 in singles tennis in 1986, reaching World No. 80 in June 1988. He reached one Grand Slam final in his career in the 1987 Australian Open mixed doubles event with Anne Hobbs. He won three ATP titles in men’s doubles, as well as one title on the Challenger tour.

After retiring from professional tennis in 1992, Castle served as a commentator and presenter for Sky. As well as tennis, he presented basketball, motor racing and golf for the network.
He joined GMTV in September 2000 as a presenter. After a decade, it was announced in June 2010 he was to leave the programme. Castle presented the final broadcast of GMTV on 3 September 2010.
Castle, who married Sophia Runham in May 1991, said him and his wife are building a house, and are about to have a third grandchild, “so things are good.”
Wimbledon 2026 will begin on Monday 29th June with the final taking place on Sunday 12th July 2026. The tournament will be shown on the BBC and TNT Sports.
