BBC News Technicians Strike

Technicians who work for BBC News have started a 24 hour strike.

The strike action, which started at 2200 on Tuesday November 14, was sought in a row over working hours. The BBC has decided to decrease the amount of hours that its technical staff work in each shift but the staff themselves are unhappy as this means working more shifts at unsociable times for no extra pay.

The action was timed to co-incide with the Queens Speech and BBC News programmes have been showing fewer live interviews with correspondents.

Further action is planned for November 23 and 24 if management does not agree to rework the new shift patterns.
