BBC News presenter Martine Croxall takes legal action against the BBC

BBC News Channel presenter Martine Croxall is taking legal action against the BBC.

The details of the case are not in the public domain, but the tribunal listing makes clear that the complaint involves issues including age and sex discrimination, and equal pay, according to an excusive report on Deadline.

Croxall was one of five female journalists who failed to land a Chief Presenter role and has not appeared on the BBC News Channel since March 2023 when the UK channel was merged with BBC World News.

Geeta Guru-Murthy and Annita McVeigh have since returned to the airwaves. Croxall, along with, Karin Giannone and Kasia Madera have not appeared on the news channel in over a year.

The BBC declined to comment, although BBC Director General Tim Davie said the corporation was working towards a “fair resolution” for the women when asked last month.

Croxall joined the BBC in 1991 when she was a producer for BBC Radio Leicester. She was soon in front of the camera, presenting and reporting for East Midlands Today.

She then moved to London to work on Newsroom South East in 1997.

Three years later, Martine moved to present the new, and short-lived, UK Today programme before joining the BBC News Channel.

The two-day tribunal is due to start on 1st May in central London.
