Gary Lineker is to front BT’s UEFA Champions League coverage after agreeing a non-exclusive deal with the BBC.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Lineker’s new deal will see him take a pay cut at the BBC, which will in turn allow him to combine his job there with roles with other networks.
One of those is expected to be BT Sport, which is likely to confirm the former England captain will share presenting responsibilities with Jake Humphrey.
Speaking of his role presenting European football on BT Sport from next season, Jake Humphrey said: “Fulfilling a childhood dream to present the Barclays Premier League has been an incredible adventure, and to be able to present big European matches from the world’s most iconic stadiums will be another challenge I can’t wait to take on.”
BT has announced a press conference for next Tuesday at which it will unveil its line-up of talent for next season, as well as how much it will charge viewers in order to recoup some of the £897 million it paid for the UK rights to all UEFA club football for the next three years.
