Sky Sports News has today begun broadcasting from their brand new studio based in Sky Studios (Harlequin 1).

Sky Studios is Sky’s new £233m broadcast and production facility which will become home to 1,300 of Sky’s production and playout staff. It has 8 Studios, with the biggest studio twice the size of its current largest studio.

Andy Cairns, Executive Editor of Sky Sports News said: “The move to our new home represents the biggest and most important element in our continuing drive to provide viewers with the most up to date and comprehensive sports news service available.

“The world of sports news has changed beyond all measure since August 1998. Fans are no longer satisfied with five minutes of sports updates at the end of the 9 o’clock news, they want a full picture of what’s happening now and Sky Sports News provides this whether they are in front of a TV, computer, or using a phone.

“And the way sports news is covered has changed as well. With the huge investment we’ll not only have a new look studio but we’ll have a modern newsroom that will help us provide an even faster, newsier and more polished service.

“We’re passionate about delivering the best sports news to our viewers. We’ll have reporters live wherever possible covering breaking news and the biggest stories of the moment. All in high definition.”
