ITV will broadcast live football this afternoon as the FA Community Shield takes place at Wembley Stadium.
The traditional curtain-raiser to the top-flight campaign will see Manchester United take on Manchester City.
These teams last met in the FA Cup final in May, with United earning their place in this match by claiming a shock 2-1 win thanks to first-half strikes by youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
The league champions will be hopeful of revenge this afternoon given they have been English football’s dominant force in recent years, but they have lost this match in each of the last three seasons, including a defeat at the hands of Arsenal on penalties last term.
Coverage starts at 2.15pm on ITV1 and ITV1 HD. Kick-off 3.00pm. The match will also stream live on ITVX.
The new Premier League season starts next Friday (16th Aug) as Manchester United host Fulham at Old Trafford, while Manchester City travel to Chelsea on the Sunday.
