Sky Sports News presenter Charlie Webster will begin a 250 mile run today to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Over the next seven days, the 31-year-old will visit 40 UK football clubs along the way, including Anfield, Goodison Park and the Reebok Stadium in support of domestic abuse charity ‘Women’s Aid’.
Charlie recently revealed that she was sexually assaulted as a teenager and waived her right to anonymity to tell of the attacks which happened when she was 15-years-old. Her abuser was jailed for 10 years and put on the sex offenders register for life.
“I am proud to be taking on my Big Challenge to raise money for Woman’s Aid and to work with football clubs to raise awareness of domestic violence,” said Charlie.
“The work Women’s Aid does is vital in helping the one in four women who will experience domestic abuse, and their children, receive the support they need, including access to a place of safety.”
Her challenge begins at Burton Albion today (Sunday) and finishes at West Ham United on Saturday 1 February 2014.
