Ian, who launched the show last September, said: “This was a tough decision. I’m very happy to stay until the end of 2011 but I really do feel like a new and different challenge in the new year.
“Daybreak has a remarkable and resilient team of people working on it. I’ve been proud to have been their editor and wish them great success in the years ahead.”
Ian was the head of output at ITV News before joining Daybreak editing each of the major news programmes as well as the general election last year.
