Steve is a former presenter on ITV London Tonight and Setanta Sports News.
Steve Gaisford joined Sky Sports in December 1998, as a Good Morning Sports Fans anchor on Sky Sports News. At the time he was one of the company’s youngest presenters at just 24.
He began his career in the media as a tape editor for Sky News, before freelancing as a programme director, vision mixer, editor, producer and cameraman for broadcasters such as ITN, Channel4, Westcountry, Meridian, CNN & GMTV.
In 1997 Steve moved in front of the camera, when he became Channel Five’s first weekend sports presenter at the channel’s launch. He then moved to ITV to report and present on Carlton’s London Tonight programme, before returning to Sky.
Since joining Sky Sports News, Steve has had a number of memorable moments but none more so than when he anchored the live coverage of David Beckham’s arrival at Real Madrid. He also interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson back in 1998, which Steve recalls as the highlight of his career.
Steve enjoys most sports, particularly football, and likes nothing more than taking in a baseball ground on a trip to the States.
A keen sportsman, Steve is out on the golf course whenever he can in an effort to improve his handicap. He also likes to play tennis and football whenever the opportunity arises.
Steve is not the only television personality in the Gaisford family; his brother Richard also works as a correspondent and presenter on GMTV. The pair have previously worked together on London Tonight and Westcountry Television and were recently in OK! magazine for being Best Man at each other’s weddings.
