Georgie Thompson joined the Sky Sports News team as a trainee presenter in January 2001 and has been a popular addition to the team since making her on air debut the following June.
After graduating from Leeds University with a 2:1 in Broadcast Journalism, Georgie headed south to London where she worked as a production assistant on a research and production scheme for GMTV.
She spent time on Newshour, GMTV Today, Lorraine and Entertainment Today before flying out to Cannes to present an entertainment show on the 2000 Film Festival.
Since working at Sky Sports Georgie has had the pleasure to meet many of her idols – often in the make-up room! – including her hero David Ginola. However the celebrity she would most like to meet and get a scoop from is Sven Goran Eriksson’s partner Nancy Dell’Olio.
Georgie loves the unpredictable nature of live television and once convinced Frank Skinner to give an impromptu version of ‘Football’s Coming Home’ in preparation for England’s World Cup quarter-final clash with Brazil.
A passionate fan of most sports, Georgie is particularly fond of tennis, which she plays on a regular basis. She is also a loyal Fulham fan and a dedicated follower of formula 1.
