SKY’s first Sports Editor

Sky News has appointed Nick Powell to take up the new role of sports editor in both Sky News and Sky Sports News. The move is set to enhance coverage and links between the two channels and will be apart of the launch of the new Sky Sports News HD Channel.

Powell new role will involve high quality journalism and will mean having a higher rank along side Adam Boulton and Mark Kleinman.

Powell, who has been at Sky News since 1996, will present weekday sports bulletins along with the Saturday Sport show and evening football match analysis.

He will take up his new role when the new HD channel starts on Monday (23 August)

Powell said, “My role is to ensure that quality sports presentation and reporting are a key feature of Sky News’ output.”

As part of the changes, Sky News presenters Charlie Thomas and Chris Skudder will report live from outside the studio during live sporting events.
