Sky News was live to see how one A&E department was coping and dealing with pressures on its staff and services. The Sky News team had full access to the major and minor incidents departments, trauma, resuscitation and children’s A&E, plus East Midlands Ambulance service.
The Queen’s Medical Centre is one of the busiest A&Es and regularly sees 600 patients a day. It is also a major trauma centre and the hub for serious multiple injury in the East Midlands, and Sunday’s are their busiest day of the week.
