Channel 5 and Paramount UK today announced a major new multi-year partnership with the NFL and CBS Sports to bring live coverage of the NFL season free-to-air to UK viewers.

Every week through the NFL season, two Sunday evening games will be broadcast; the first at 6pm on 5 and the second at 9pm on 5ACTION – which will be branded as 5NFL for game nights. Both games will also be streamed live.

The broadcaster will also show the Super Bowl free-to-air in the UK. In addition, it will broadcast the NFL London and Dublin Games, as well as Thanksgiving Day specials and three playoff games.

NFL coverage on 5 will kick off at 5:30pm on game nights, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, with Sam Quek and double-Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora.

At 9pm, the second game of the night – on 5ACTION which will be rebranded 5NFL – will be hosted by Sam Quek and Osi Umenyiora for football discussion, game analysis and commentary. They will be joined by special guests each week as they get into the heart of the action.

Sky Sports has announced a new three-year deal with the NFL which will see them broadcast a second game at 6pm, and up to an additional two games at 9pm.

All London and Europe games will also be broadcast live on Sky, including the highly anticipated inaugural games in Ireland and Spain.

Sky will still be the home of the highly popular NFL RedZone programme, alongside every Thursday Night, Sunday Night and Monday Night Football, Thanksgiving games, the Playoffs and the Super Bowl.
