Jo Coburn has announced she is leaving the BBC after 28 years.

She has been the host of Politics Live since it’s launch in 2018.

Coburn first joined the BBC in 1997 as a reporter covering Westminster, and has since become one of BBC Politics’ most senior presenters.

She covered major domestic and international political events for programmes including the Today programme, the Six and Ten bulletins and the BBC News Channel.

Vicki Young, BBC’s Deputy Political Editor since 2020, has been announced as the new presenter of Politics Live.

She’s worked for the BBC for more than 25 years, starting as a reporter at BBC Wales before joining the parliamentary team at Westminster.

“I’m delighted to join Politics Live as its next presenter at a time when political events, here and abroad, are of huge interest to our audiences,” said Young.

“I’ll be discussing all the key issues with our panellists and politicians, giving them their say of course, but holding them to account too as I know Politics Live viewers expect.

“I want to give a special mention to my friend and talented colleague Jo Coburn. It’s a privilege to follow in her footsteps.”

Vicki will start her role presenting Politics Live permanently in June.
