The Hundred - Cricket

The Hundred – the hugely popular entertainment and action packed cricket competition – returns on Wednesday 3rd August 2022.

Sky Sports will show every game of The Hundred live, while the BBC shows 18 games live, including 10 men’s and 8 women’s matches including both finals.

The opening match sees the defending men’s champions Southern Brave take on the Welsh Fire at The Ageas Bowl.

The women’s competition begins a week later on Thursday August 11 following the conclusion of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where women’s cricket is making its debut.

What is The Hundred? It’s fast-paced. Each game will last less than three hours.

Each bowler can deliver a maximum of 20 balls per game and there will be 100 balls per innings – whoever scores the most runs wins.

The competition will see eight teams from seven cities; Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers (Leeds), Oval Invincibles (London), Southern Brave (Southampton), Trent Rockets (Nottingham) and Welsh Fire (Cardiff).

Each team will feature some of the best international and domestic cricketers from around the world, including England Men’s and Women’s World Cup winners.

World Cup winner Isa Guha will lead the BBC TV coverage, alongside an expert line-up including Jimmy Anderson, Phil Tufnell, Carlos Brathwaite, Alison Mitchell, Alex Hartley, Henry Moeran and Aatif Nawaz.

Sky’s coverage of the opening match starts at 6.30pm, while BBC Two will be live on air with Southern Brave v Welsh Fire at 7.00pm on Wednesday 3rd August.
