Spain host Sweden at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville in Group E of Euro 2020 this evening.
Three-time champions Spain will enter this tournament as one of the favourites to go all the way, given their rich history and world-class players at their disposal, although their recent displays in major finals have left a lot to be desired.
Barcelona veteran Sergio Busquets was due to lead his country this time around, in the absence of Spain’s all-time record appearance holder Sergio Ramos, but the midfielder tested positive for Covid just over a week ago, throwing manager Luis Enrique’s plans into chaos.
Sweden haven’t made it past the group stage at the European Championship since 2004, and finished bottom of their pool at Euro 2016, failing to win a single game.
Gary Lineker will be live on BBC One and BBC One HD from 7.30pm, where he’ll be joined in the studio by Alan Shearer, Rio Ferdinand and Cesc Fabregas.
Match commentary comes from Steve Bower and Danny Murphy.
The BBC will also broadcast the first match of the day as Scotland take on Czech Republic from 1.15pm. ITV will air the mid-afternoon game between Poland v Slovakia (4.15pm).
