Russia host Egypt in Group A of World Cup 2018 this evening as the second round of Group Stage fixtures get underway.
The match, staged at the Saint Petersburg Stadium, will be shown live on the BBC.
Russia demolished Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening match of the tournament, and are looking to become the first team from Russian soil since 1986 to progress to the group stages, when the former Soviet Union reached the last 16.
Egypt, on the other hand, failed to make it through to the knockout stage in their previous two appearances at the tournament, and suffered an agonising 1-0 defeat at the hands of Uruguay in their first contest, with the South Americans’ goal coming in the 89th minute.
Their star man, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, missed that match due to a shoulder injury sustained during the Champions League final, but it is hoped he will be fit to play a part this evening.
Gary Lineker will be live on BBC One, BBC One HD and the BBC iPlayer from 6.30pm.
Match commentary comes from Jonathan Pearce and Danny Murphy.
