Manchester City are within touching distance of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals as they host Basel in the second leg of the last-16 tonight.
Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Agüero gave City a 4-0 first-leg win in Switzerland, matching the club’s record away win in the UEFA Champions League, group stage to final, and leaving their opponents facing a third last-16 defeat.
While the English club have lost three of their four last-16 ties – the exception coming in 2015/16, when Manuel Pellegrini’s City went on to reach the semi-finals – Basel were beaten on their two previous appearances at this stage, in 2012 and 2015.
