England take on Japan this evening as both teams play their third and final Group D match of Women’s World Cup 2019.
The sides last met in March’s SheBelieves Cup, when goals by Lucy Staniforth, Karen Carney and Bethany Mead gave England an impressive 3-0 win in Florida and ensured they finished above their opponents, USA and Brazil to win the round-robin competition.
Phil Neville’s side have also fared slightly better in the group so far, defeating both Scotland and Argentina, while Japan drew against the South Americans before overcoming the Scots.
However, the Japanese were runners-up to USA four years ago and defeated the same opponents in the 2011 final, so cannot be taken lightly in this competition.
Alex Scott and Jordan Nobbs joins Gabby Logan on BBC One and BBC One HD from 7.30pm. Match commentary comes from Jonathan Pearce and Sue Smith.
Kick-off 8.00pm
The match will also be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer.
