The BBC will broadcast the World Cup 2018 last 16 clash between Belgium and Japan this evening.

The match takes place at the Rostov Arena in Rostov-on-Don, where the winners of Group G play the runners-up from Group H.

Roberto Martinez’s side topped their group with a 100 per cent record, having defeated Panama, Tunisia and England.

Japan became the first-ever country to qualify by virtue of their fair-play record, finishing level with Senegal on goal difference, goals scored and goals conceded and sneaking through with fewer yellow cards.

These countries have met five times before, including a group-stage encounter during the 2002 World Cup at Saitama Stadium. Marc Wilmots gave Belgium the lead, before Takayuki Suzuki and Junichi Inamoto gave the hosts a 2-1 lead.

However, Peter Van Der Heyden rescued a point for the Red Devils.

Coverage begins at 6.30pm on BBC One and BBC One HD, where Gary Lineker presents. Match commentary comes from Simon Brotherton and Martin Keown.

Kick-off 7.00pm

The match will also be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer.
