Former BBC and Channel 4 Formula One pundit Eddie Jordan has died at the age of 76.

The former F1 boss had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate and bladder cancer earlier in 2024.

A statement from his family said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.

“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20 March 2025.”

Jordan entered the world of motorsports in 1971 where he won the Irish Kart Championship. In 1974, Jordan moved up to Formula Ford, the Irish Formula Ford Championship and, in 1975, to Formula Three.

He joined F1 in 1991 founding Jordan Grand Prix and gave Michael Schumacher his Formula 1 debut in the team’s debut season.

In 2009 Jordan joined the BBC as a pundit for their F1 coverage, and moved over to Channel 4 in March 2016 when they won the rights to show Formula One in the UK.

Jordan received an honorary OBE for services to charity and motor racing in March 2012.
