Sky News today announced a new evening show that will showcase the best of Sky News’ journalism with interviews with major guests, studio debate, analysis and a pioneering social media cross-over.

From 1st September 2014, Adam Boulton and Sarah Hewson will host ‘Sky News Tonight’ at Millbank, weekdays from 7pm to 9pm*

The show will be a home for Sky News’ specialist journalism team including new Political Editor, Faisal Islam, Economics Editor, Ed Conway and Social Affairs Editor, Afua Hirsch who will bring a brand new, forensic analysis of the day’s major national and international news using new technology, data journalism and cutting-edge digital media tools.

“Sky News Tonight will have comprehensive parallel output on social media, where users will be able to view – and engage with – a host of extra content that will follow, complement and enhance the live TV output, in real time,” said Sky News.

“Viewers will be able to interact with the programme via Sky News’ social media platforms which will give them the power to engage in the discussion, contribute to the debate and even influence the agenda of the show. Customers will be able to join in the conversation at skynews.com.”

John Ryley, Head of Sky News, added: “Sky News Tonight will not only showcase the best of the channel’s journalism but also offer a platform to delve further into the stories of the day incorporating digital components to better illustrate and explain. This will be a high production show determined by a serious news agenda. I wish Adam, Sarah and the team all the best.”

Sky News also announced changes to its daily schedule today, which will run from 1st September:

6am – 9am – Sunrise presented by Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster
9am – 12pm – Colin Brazier and Jayne Secker (double headed)
12pm – 2pm – Dermot Murnaghan (Mon/Tue/ Weds) Anna Jones (Thurs/Fri/Sat)
2pm – 5pm – Kay Burley
5pm – 6.30pm – Jeremy Thompson
6.30pm – 7pm – Ian King Live presented by Ian King
7pm – 9pm – Sky News Tonight presented by Adam Boulton and Sarah Hewson
9pm – 12pm – Anna Botting

*Friday’s edition of Sky News Tonight ends at 8.30pm to make way for the Week in Review hosted by Jayne Secker with Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire.
