News 24 to simulcast Ten O’clock News

HomeNewsNews 24 to simulcast Ten O’clock News

BBC News 24 will simulcast the BBC’s flagship news bulletin BBC News 24 from Monday January 30, 2006.

Aiming to create a new hour of dedicated programming on the channel between 10pm and 11pm each weekday evening, News 24 will show the Ten O’clock News followed by an extended in-depth sports round up and a preview of the following days newspapers and events.

The channel’s controller Kevin Bakhurst said that the move would not affect News 24’s ability to break stories.

He said that the decision to simulcast the BBC1 10pm bulletin had been taken partly because at that time of day there tended to be fewer big breaking stories. He added that it would therefore be unlikely for the other bulletins, the One and Ten O’clock News, to also be simulcast on the channel.

The World Business Report, which is currently broadcast at 10.30pm will now be moved to a new later slot at 12.30am.
