Channel 4 News unveils app for Apple TV

CNews

Channel 4 News has unveiled its new app for Apple TV — making it the third major UK media outlet on the platform, along with BBC iPlayer and Sky.

The app, which has been launched in time for Christmas, provides both a showcase for the programme’s premium award-winning HD film-making and a catch-up service for the last seven days of news and interviews.

Available in the App Store worldwide, the specially curated selection focuses on material with global appeal, and includes International Emmy and RTS winning films from Syria’s civil war and all over the world.

“We are delighted to have a presence on Apple TV as an additional showcase for our high-quality film-making and news programming,” said Managing Editor Ed Fraser.

“We are looking forward to seeing audiences discover and engage with these films on the big screen.”

The app also features interviews with top international figures, including founder of the World Wide Web Tim Berners-Lee, rapper Tinie Tempah and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

The catch up service features full programmes from the last seven days in high-definition, including studio debates and Channel 4 Weather.

Channel 4 News is produced by ITN.
