Sky News correspondent Amanda Walker has announced she is leaving Sky News.

In a post on social media, Amanda wrote: “15 years ago, Sky News gave a whipper-snapper from Darlo a break. Global adventures came thick and fast. From Tewksbury to Tajikistan to Tennessee, I’ve met some truly amazing people and listened to incredible stories that will stay with me forever.

“I have worked, laughed and cried with the best in the business and made precious friends along the way. But for me and my family America has now become home, so I’ve decided to end my journey with Sky.

“Before I get too misty-eyed, I’m very excited about starting a new chapter that keeps me a little closer to the people who won’t be little for long.

“Now I just need to explain to my kids that my name isn’t actually Amanda Walker Sky News.”

Amanda has been U.S. correspondent at Sky since 2013, covering two presidential elections including Donald Trump’s victory in 2016.

Prior to that she was Russia correspondent, leading Sky’s coverage of the 2012 presidential election and gaining a rare, exclusive interview, in English, with Vladimir Putin.

Before joining Sky, Amanda worked for 5 years as an on-the-road reporter for LBC radio, where she covered the Soham murders, the 2005 general election, and the 7/7 bombings.

Amanda started her career at the Hull Daily Mail before moving into BBC local radio, LBC and then on to regional TV news at ITV Border.
