RTS Television Journalism Awards 2022 – The Nominations

The nominations for RTS Television Journalism Awards 2022 have been announced today.

ITV leads the way with 16 nominations across the 19 categories, closely followed by the BBC with 14 and Sky News with 11.

Both BBC News and Sky News, along with Al Jazeera English, are in the running for the News Channel of the Year award, with Sky News’ Nick Martin nominated for Specialist Journalist of Year, alongside Victoria Macdonald for Channel 4 News and Daniel Hewitt for ITV News.

“The breadth and quality of the entries this year once again confirms the RTS Television Journalism Awards as the gold standard in our industry,” said Simon Bucks, Chair of the Awards.

“Although our lives were again dominated by Covid throughout 2021 the vast majority of nominations are on non-Covid topics – powerful evidence of flourishing and wide-ranging journalism. The Awards on February 23rd will be a marvellous opportunity to celebrate this success.”

The awards will be hosted by Channel 4’s Cathy Newman on Wednesday 23 February 2022 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
