RTS Television Journalism Awards 2017: The Nominations

Royal Television Society

The Royal Television Society has announced the nominations for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2017.

The awards, for both news and current affairs, seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK based platform and those who create online video content from a UK production base.

BBC News Channel, CNN International and Sky News will fight it out to be named News Channel of the Year, while BBC News at Ten, Channel 4 News and The Victoria Derbyshire Programme (BBC Two) come face-to-face in the Daily News Programme of the Year category.

Battle for Mosul – 48 Hours (CNN International); Brussels Terror Attack (Sky News) and Murder of Jo Cox (ITV News – ITN for ITV) compete for the Breaking News award, while Election Expenses Exposed (Channel 4 News – ITN for Channel 4); I.S. Files (Sky News) and Southern Health (BBC News) all hope to get Scoop of the Year.

Election Expenses Exposed (Channel 4 News – ITN for Channel 4) also secures a nomination in the News Coverage – Home category where it is up against Hillsborough and Prisons (both for BBC News).

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Wednesday 1 March 2017 at the London Hilton, Park Lane, which will be hosted by Barbara Serra, a broadcast journalist and TV newsreader working on Al Jazeera English.
