The third and final Group D fixture of World Cup 2018 comes from the Rostov Arena in Rostov-on-Don this evening as Iceland take on Croatia.

Iceland started the tournament well, earning a very credible draw against Argentina, but a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in their previous game leaves their own fate in the hands of others.

Croatia are already through, but coach Zlatko Dalic will be expecting the same high level of commitment from his players here.

These teams will be more than familiar with each other having also been drawn in the same qualification group to reach this tournament, and the Croatians may feel as though they have a score to settle having finished as runners-up, which meant they had to come through a two-legged play-off.

In the matches themselves the honours were shared evenly, with Croatia winning 2-0 on home soil and the Icelandic triumphing 1-0 in the reverse fixture in Reykjavik, which proved to be the decisive factor in them topping the group and qualifying automatically for Russia, with that all-important goal coming via a 90th-minute winner.

As well as splitting their games and boasting similar records during qualification – Iceland only gained two more points than their rivals – they each proved to be miserly in defence, with Croatia conceding just four times and Iceland seven, so a tight affair could well be on the cards this evening

Reshmin Chowdhury will be live on BBC Four and BBC Four HD from 7.00pm. Match commentary comes from Simon Brotherton and Danny Murphy.

Kick-off 7.00pm.

The match will also be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer.
